Give Respect!

The Family Violence Prevention Fund's Respect! Campaign has declared today as their "National Respect! Day." The goal is to draw attention to preventing domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.

The Scripture says, "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves." We join this effort not only to speak up, but to follow up with our actions.

Organizations and ministries like FamilyLife, Revive Our Hearts, Life Issues Institute, Compassion International, Mercy Ships, HCJB Global, Prison Fellowship and so many others take seriously the Proverb: "Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." They are doing just that!

Thanks for this, BB! I hope this idea catches on. "Respect" seems to be a lost art, but it's not a hopeless cause either. I'm grateful for FamilyLife who develops material to help parents teach their children the value of respect for others, but also for themselves. "Interviewing Your Daughter's Date" is one example of that.
